The Summer Road Reno

Every year, we maintain and upgrade the city's transport infrastructure, including roads, footpaths, road signs, bus shelters and street lights across Tāmaki Makaurau / Auckland.

We are constantly out on the network. However, resurfacing work, such as chipsealing, can only happen during the summer season when the weather is more dry and settled.

To find out about projects and roadworks in your area, visit the Roadworks and disruptions page.

How roadworks may impact you

Speed limits: Your safety is important to us so please reduce your speed and follow the signs, light signals and traffic directions while driving through the area. This also helps protect our roading staff.

Road closures: Plan ahead and think about using other routes if a road is closed. We will set up signs and have traffic controllers on the road to help you out.

Parking: You might not be able to use your usual parking space during the roadworks, or drive onto or out of your property. We will let you know about access issues before we start working, and try our best to get such work done as quickly as possible.

Commuting: Bus stops and footpaths might move, but you will see signs and routes that tell you where the new ones are. You can also ask a traffic controller for directions.

Flood recovery works will continue

We will continue with our flood recovery works, and renew the remaining 500 sites that were impacted in the January/February 2023 storm events.

Be kind while we work

We understand that roadworks can be disruptive for you, but please be patient and be kind to our workers on the road.

We try our best to minimise noise, especially at night, and get the work done quickly. Rebuilding and repairing can also be dusty, and we try to use water trucks where we can to dampen the road and reduce the amount of dust.

Remember that our workers are on the road so they can make driving, walking and commuting a better experience for you.
