The Rail and Maritime Trade Union (RMTU) has given notice of its intent to commence industrial action from Monday 26 February to Friday 16 March.

Auckland Transport and Transdev have developed a temporary timetable to minimise disruption and provide consistent rail services on these lines during this period.

Customers can expect Southern, Western and Eastern line weekday peak train services at 20-minute intervals, with inter-peak and off-peak services running as normal. Many trains on these services will run with six cars, which can hold 900 passengers, to help reduce impact.

Onehunga and Pukekohe weekday train services and weekend train services across all lines will remain on their usual timetable.

Ferry and bus services will operate as normal.

As the use of shared vehicles is increasing, City Hop is looking to expand its network of vehicles outside of the CBD, and has identified a location close to Mount Eden train station which would be a great location, due to the high density of residential apartments in the area.

We support the car share initiative as it helps contribute to a number of goals set out in our Statement of Intent, such as reducing car dependency and providing effective and efficient alternative transport options.

Feedback

The proposal received positive feedback with some concerns raised by respondents. After reviewing this feedback and all other supporting evidence, the proposal will proceed with changes to the next stage of detailed planning.

Specific feedback

  • Suggestion that the City Hop space is moved slightly. After discussion with City Hop, it has been agreed that the space will be moved to the other side of the street, opposite 3 Enfield Street.

Next steps

We expect to introduce this work in the 2017/18 financial year, subject to any further changes in design or funding issues.
Contractors will issue 48-hour notice to all affected residents prior to construction work.
