Mako Street, Waiheke Island - restricted parking Mako Street, Waiheke Island - restricted parking

Consultation status: closed 31 March 2017

We are proposing to restrict all of the angle parking on Mako Street, outside the old bowls club, to 4 hours, Monday to Friday 8am to 6pm.

Why the changes are needed

We received a request to consider restricting the angle parking outside the old bowls club on Mako Street as there has been a change of use at the premises and the centre is experiencing increased use (37 different groups now use the facilities).

Customers are unable to park close to the premises as the majority of the spaces are currently unrestricted parking, which are fully occupied during the day.

We have recently surveyed the parking and the unrestricted parking has a peak occupancy of 82%. There are currently 6 spaces restricted to 3 hours; these turn over on a regular basis, demonstrating that further parking restrictions would assist in resolving the issue.

Feedback results

The proposal received positive feedback, but with several requests for an 8-hour period, rather than the proposed 4-hour limit.

After considering this feedback we agree that a P480 (8-hour) time limit will be more useful than a P240 (4-hour) time limit.

The P480 parking restriction will apply between 8am and 6pm, Monday to Friday.
