Consultation status: closed 27 January 2017
We have received a number of complaints regarding the limited availability of the 2 Loading Zones on Ocean View Road, Oneroa, due to their use by vehicles which are not loading or unloading.
This creates considerable difficulties for those trying to make deliveries and businesses expecting them. We have investigated this request and in light of similar complaints regarding the new loading zone on Belgium Street, we agree that loading zones should be available to those vehicles actually making deliveries or pick-ups.
We are proposing to change the restriction applying to the two loading zones on Ocean View Road to:
- P5 Loading Zone Goods Vehicles Only At All Times (operating 24 hours a day every day)
Why the changes are needed
There would be benefits in extending the operational hours of the 2 loading zones on Ocean View Road from their current times of Monday to Sunday, 8am to 6pm, so that they operate “At All Times” (24-hours-a-day, every day).
The fact that these spaces would be unavailable to most vehicles will ensure that there is no ambiguity and that only Goods Vehicles involved in loading and unloading can ever use them.
AT received feedback both supporting the proposal and objecting to it. As a result, we will be recommending amending the operational hours of the 2 loading zones, to 6am to 8pm (currently 8am to 6pm). This will provide some additional capacity while having less impact.
Feedback was also received requesting a new loading zone at the western end of the village. AT has consulted on such a proposal for Ocean View Road in the past, which was not supported. However, AT has consulted on a new loading zone at 19 Waikare Road, which has received support and will provide a facility at the western end of the village.
