Rangitoto Avenue, Remuera - no stopping at all times restrictions

Consultation status: closed 25 November

We are seeking feedback on a proposal to add No Stopping at All Times restrictions (broken yellow lines) at the northern corner of Rangitoto Avenue and Orakei Road in Remuera .

When cars are parked on Rangitoto Avenue near the intersection, vehicles turning into Rangitoto Avenue are forced across the centre line, leading to congestion and increasing the potential for accidents.

The proposed broken yellow lines will address this issue, giving drivers a clear space to turn safely into Rangitoto Avenue.

Thank you everyone for your feedback.

The proposal received positive feedback with some concerns raised by respondents. After reviewing this feedback and all other supporting evidence, the proposal will proceed with changes to the next stage of detailed planning.

Specific feedback and proposed solution

  • Request to extend the No Stopping at All Times restrictions (broken yellow lines) down Rangitoto Avenue by a few extra metres. Yes, we will extend the No Stopping at All Times restrictions down Rangitoto to the rear driveway of No. 45 Orakei Road.

  • Suggestion that there be No stopping at all times restrictions on Orakei Road directly opposite Rangitoto Avenue. Rangitoto Avenue is a low volume traffic road and has no accidents attributed to the intersection. Therefore, we will leave the parking opposite the intersection as it is at this time.

  • Request for additional works: Redesigning the Orakei Road corner. If you would like your request to be considered by AT for future development works, please provide feedback or report a problem here.

Next stage

We expect to introduce this work by the end of June 2017, subject to any further changes in design or funding issues. Contractors will issue a 48-hour notice to all residents in the area prior to starting construction work.
