Trafalgar St, Onehunga - No stopping restrictions

Consultation status: closed 23 June 2017

We are proposing to extend the No stopping at all times restrictions (broken yellow lines) on Trafalgar Street by 10 metres.

Why the changes are needed

Drivers exiting 37 Trafalgar St have limited visibility due to vehicles parked outside 39 Trafalgar Street and roadside obstacles.

Feedback

Thank you everyone for your feedback.

The proposal received mixed feedback with some concerns raised by respondents. After reviewing this feedback and all other supporting evidence, the proposal will proceed without changes to the next stage of detailed planning.

Specific feedback and proposed solution

  • Request to limit lines between the driveways of 39 and 41 Trafalgar Street. The kerb length between the driveways of 39 and 41 Trafalgar Street is approximately 12.5m. This distance is enough to accommodate two vehicles. Vehicles shouldn’t be parking closer than 1m to the driveway, if this occurs then residents should call Auckland Transport for parking enforcement.
  • Concern over the loss of parking spaces. Extending broken yellow lines to the western end of the driveway of 39 Trafalgar Street is to improve visibility for exiting vehicles. Residents can park their vehicles on the opposite side of Trafalgar Street, or outside 1/39 Trafalgar Street.
  • Request to trim trees. This is out of scope of this project. If you would like your request to be considered for future development works, please provide feedback here.

Next steps

We expect to introduce this work throughout 2017/2018, subject to any further changes in design or funding issues.

Contractors will notify all residents in the area prior to starting construction work.
