Meadowland Drive, Somerville - no stopping at all times restriction

Consultation status: closed 6 December 2016

We are proposing to extend the No stopping at all times restrictions (broken yellow lines) at the zebra crossing outside 36 Meadowland Drive in Somerville and at the eastbound bus stop.

Why changes are required

To address visibility issues for pedestrians and to improve bus driver maneuvering at the bus stop.

Feedback

Thank you everyone for your feedback.

The proposal received mixed feedback with some concerns raised by respondents. After reviewing this feedback and all other supporting evidence, the proposal will proceed without changes to the next stage of detailed planning.

Specific feedback and proposed solution

We have received some concerns about parking being removed. The extent of the parking removal has been limited to the minimum amount necessary to provide adequate levels of safety for pedestrians, as well as to improve bus manoeuvrability. The parking outside residential properties will not be affected.

Next stage

We expect to introduce this work by June 2017, subject to any further changes in design or funding issues. Contractors will issue a 48-hour notice to all residents in the area prior to starting construction work.
