Blackbridge Road bridge - give way priority change

Consultation status: closed 9 September

AT proposed to change the give way rule currently used at the one-way bridge on Blackbridge Road following concerns raised by local residents. This means that westbound drivers would have to give way to eastbound drivers.

Why the changes are needed

Currently eastbound drivers have to give way to westbound drivers. The downhill slope of the road makes it difficult for westbound drivers to see oncoming vehicles and drivers may not have enough stopping distance to avoid a collision with a vehicle coming from the other direction.

The proposed change of give-way priority aims to improve road safety at this location. Temporary advance warning signs would be installed at both sides of the bridge to inform drivers of the give way priority change.
