These changes are needed to prevent parked cars from blocking road user visibility and access at this location.
Feedback
The proposal received mixed feedback with some concerns raised by respondents. After reviewing this feedback and all other supporting evidence, the proposal will proceed without changes to the next stage of detailed planning.
Specific feedback
- Request to have 35km/h maximum speed imposed and at least one speed hump to slow down traffic. Possibly a pedestrian crossing on Castor Bay road just before Braemar Road. Speeds of 40km/h are reserved for school zones, speeds less then 35km/h are only installed where there is a sharp bend in the road, there are no sharp bends on Caster Bay Road. Pedestrian numbers are to low to justify a pedestrian crossing at this location.
- Request to have speed bumps be fitted on the lower end of Castor Bay Rd instead of losing more parking. Speed bumps are not appropriate at this location as the driveways are too close.
- Request to have more yellow lines on the opposite side of the road from our driveway, from the intersection from Braemar Road heading north west, up Castor Bay road. Extension broken yellow lines is not necessary as there is no safety issue.
Next steps
We expect to introduce this work before June 2018, subject to further changes in design or funding issues.
Contractors will issue 48-hour notices to all affected residents prior to construction work.
