We proposed to install an electronic variable message sign as per the consultation drawing.

Implementing the proposal would result in the following improvements: 

  • The sign will help to improve event management; and incident management capabilities across Auckland's road network.
  • The signage will provide real-time travel updates and therefore will provide a better experience for road users.

Proposal update May 2020

In February 2018 we invited community feedback on our proposal to install an electronic message sign on the south corner of East Coast Road and Amante Crescent in Mairangi Bay. At that time in 2018, we advised of a planned installation date of July 2018, which did not occur.

These works are scheduled for the end of May - June 2020. The delay in the construction date was caused by an issue with supply and shipment of the signs. We now have these signs available for installation.

Our contractors will send notices to residents or businesses affected by works 48 hours before the work starts. We may need to delay the work or make other plans if the weather is poor or the contractor changes. If this happens, we will update you again.
