Karepiro Dr & Rishworth Ave, Stanmore Bay - No stopping restrictions Karepiro Dr & Rishworth Ave, Stanmore Bay - No stopping restrictions

Consultation status: closed 11 May 2017

We propose installing No stopping at all times restrictions (broken yellow lines) at the intersection of Karepiro Drive and Rishworth Avenue.

Why the changes are needed

Vehicles are currently parking on the bend of the intersection, reducing visibility for those turning out of Rishworth Avenue.

The proposed No stopping at all times (NSAAT) restrictions will reinforce the road rules in regards to cars parking too close to the intersection and remove obstructions to provide clear visibility for those entering Karepiro Drive.

Feedback results

The proposal received mixed feedback with some concerns raised by respondents. After reviewing this feedback and all other supporting evidence, we will proceed with the proposal without changes to the next stage of detailed planning.

Specific feedback

  • Visibility to the west of #25 Karepiro Drive won’t improve. The No stopping at all times restrictions are specifically targeting the intersection visibility. The reason for not increasing their length past the driveways is due to the high demand of parking in the area. The length is specifically designed to optimise visibility while limiting the loss of parking.
  • Extent of No stopping at all times restrictions is unnecessary. The proposed No stopping at all times restrictions on Rishworth Avenue and Karepiro Drive are in place to provide a clear line of sight for drivers approaching the intersection; this is essential in making the intersection safer for both pedestrians and vehicles.

Next steps

We expect to complete this work in the 2017/18 financial year (starting in July 2017), subject to any further changes in design or funding. Contractors will notify all affected residents 48 hours before work starts.
