Remu Place, Greenhithe – Broken Yellow Lines Remu Place, Greenhithe – Broken Yellow Lines

Proposal outcome

In August 2022, we proposed changes to improve accessibility on Remu Place by painting broken yellow lines (no stopping at all times) around the turning circle at the end of Remu Place, Greenhithe. We appreciate your valuable local insights on this project and would like to work with you to make Remu Place accessible to everyone. After reviewing all the feedback, we are proceeding with the following changes:

  • Broken yellow lines (no stopping at all times) on the northern side of the cul-de-sac to keep access along that section clear at all times and ensure access to the no-exit road at the end of the cul-de-sac is not blocked.
  • On the opposite side, there will be two signs that will indicate a no stopping restriction that will apply 6am to 12pm on Thursdays only so that the rubbish trucks will have space to turn around the cul-de-sac on collection days. This way parking parallel to the kerb can be retained at all other times for visitors, Watercare or contractors who need to park on street.

What happens next

We anticipate the changes will be implemented in November 2022. We will be in touch with local residents and businesses prior to any construction taking place.

Community feedback

Thank you for helping us make better decisions for your neighbourhood, informed by your local knowledge. All respondents supported the proposal to improve accessibility on Remu Place, Greenhithe. Most of the respondents told us that Remu Place is a narrow street, and a no stopping restriction would lead to parking inconvenience.

The accessibility issue along the cul-de-sac on Remu Place is only on rubbish collection days which are Thursday and Friday. Therefore, time-restriction would be more appropriate. A summary of the additional comments and queries we received, and our responses to them, is below.

Design changes

  • Request to make the no parking restrictions effective from Monday to Friday 7am to 7pm.
We have updated the proposal so that there will be broken yellow lines (no stopping at all times) on the northern side of the cul-de-sac. This will keep access along this section clear at all times and ensure access to the no-exit road at the end of the cul-de-sac is not blocked.

On the opposite side, there will be two signs that will indicate a no stopping restriction that will apply 6am to 12pm on Thursdays only so that the rubbish trucks will have space to turn on collection days. This way parking parallel to the kerb can be retained at all other times for visitors, Watercare or contractors who need to park on street.
  • Request to install signpost to make people aware of no parking.
We have changed the project slightly so that there will be two signs indicating no parking on Thursdays during rubbish collection hours. There will still be broken yellow lines (no stopping at all times) on the northern side to prevent parking on this section at all times.

How this will benefit your neighbourhood

We would like to work with you to deliver safer roads in your neighbourhood. Rubbish truck drivers asked us to address accessibility issues for larger vehicles trying to turn around at the end of Remu Place, due to vehicles parked in this area.

Parking restrictions will help to keep the road clear so larger vehicles, such as emergency service vehicles and rubbish trucks, can safely turn around and exit the road.

What happens next
