Proposal reference: BYL-161
We are proposing to install No stopping at all times restrictions (broken yellow lines) on the corners of the intersection of Salamanca Road and Cockayne Crescent and also add a new Give Way control on the road.
Why the changes are needed
Vehicles parked close to the intersection are causing visibility and accessibility issues for residents and pedestrians.
The proposal received positive feedback with some concerns raised by respondents. After reviewing this feedback and all other supporting evidence, the proposal will proceed without changes to the next stage of detailed planning.
- Extend the broken yellow lines. We acknowledge that on-street parking is a valuable and shared community resource. Therefore its removal is only carried out where a significant safety or accessibility issue has been identified.
- The proposal is unnecessary as nobody ever parks at the intersection. We visited the site and observed cars parked close enough to the intersection to adversely impact visibility.
- White lines needed down the centre of Salamanca Road. White lines will only be installed where there is enough space for two cars to manoeuvre easily without crossing centreline. Cars are allowed to park on both sides of Salamanca Road and so it is not possible to install white lines.
- Request for additional works including maintenance work on pavements in the area. If you would like your request to be considered by AT for future development works, please provide feedback here.
We expect to introduce this work in the 2017/18 financial year, subject to any further changes in design or funding issues.
Contractors will issue 48-hour notice to all affected residents prior to construction work.
