Sunset Road, Sunnynook - no stopping at all times restriction

Consultation status: closed 11 November 2016

We are seeking feedback on a proposal to add No Stopping at All Times restrictions (broken yellow lines) along Sunset Road in Sunnynook.

This proposed change comes from concerns raised by the public about restricted vehicle access caused by cars parked on the slip lane on Sunset Road.

Our site visits confirm that there is restricted vehicle movement and the proposed broken yellow lines will address this issue.

Feedback

Thank you everyone for your feedback.

The proposal received mostly positive feedback with some concerns raised by respondents. After reviewing this feedback and all other supporting evidence, the proposal will proceed without changes to the next stage of detailed planning.

Specific feedback and proposed solution

  • Concern about removal of parking close to the Constellation Bus Station. This slip road of Sunset Road is narrow, with a width of only five metres. This is not wide enough for cars to park on both sides. The proposed No Stopping at All Times restrictions (broken yellow lines) will ensure that cars park on only one side, while enhancing visibility near the main part of Sunset Road.
  • Request to place the restrictions on the opposite side of this slip road of Sunset Road. This proposal places the No Stopping at All Times restrictions on the side that will have the greatest impact on visibility. The majority of vehicles also tend to park on the opposite side already.
  • Request for additional No Stopping at All Times restrictions near the intersection with Sycamore Drive and outside the shared driveway within the slip road. The intersection with Sycamore Drive is wide enough for drivers to turn into this slip road of Sunset Road. The shared driveway is also wide enough for drivers to enter and exit. It is important to note that it is already illegal to park within one metre of a driveway. Parking enforcement can be contacted via our call centre - (09) 355 3553.
  • Request for additional works including a multi-story carpark at the Park and Ride. This request is out of scope for this proposal. If you would like your request to be considered by AT for future development works, please provide feedback or report a problem here.

Next stage

We expect to introduce this work by June 2017, subject to any further changes in design or funding issues. Contractors will issue a 48-hour notice to all residents in the area prior to starting construction work.
