We are proposing to install No stopping at all times restrictions (broken yellow lines) on Sunset Road, Windsor Park.
Why the changes are needed
Parked cars are causing visibility issues for residents at this location. As there is a dip in the road, it’s hard for residents to see the cars coming from Ramp Road. The proposal will improve the visibility for the affected parties.
Thank you everyone for your feedback.
The proposal received mixed feedback with some concerns raised by respondents. After reviewing this feedback and all other supporting evidence, the proposal will proceed without changes to the next stage of detailed planning.
Specific feedback and proposed solution
Suggestion that the proposed changes would move the problem further down the street. We found the visibility issue is in this section of Sunset Road and therefore the broken yellow lines proposed are necessary. There are no visibility issues further down the street and therefore there won’t be any issue for vehicles choosing to park there.
A pedestrian crossing should be installed outside No.270 Sunset Road. We will investigate further in terms of considering a pedestrian crossing at this location. The broken yellow lines were proposed due to visibility issues. We will carry out the pedestrian survey in the future and proceed further if it is warranted.
People rely on the parking spaces for bus travel therefore, alternative parking spaces should be provided for commuters. Parking is available further down the road and on the side streets. The purpose of this proposal is to rectify the current visibility issue and to improve safety for all road users.
Suggestion that the best solution would be no parking restrictions on Sunset Road between 6am and 6pm. The current issue regarding restricted vehicle visibility occurs at different times of the day which makes a time-restricted scheme unfeasible. The No Stopping control will improve visibility for vehicles at all times.
Broken yellow lines should be installed on both sides of Sunset Road or extended to No.272 Sunset Road. We can provide balance between reasonable public access and parking demand, therefore no further broken yellow lines are being proposed on Sunset Road at this stage. Also, parked vehicles may reduce the traffic flow to a single lane, this has the positive effect of reducing driver speeds and encouraging greater care.
Request for additional works including a request for broken yellow lines on Ramp Road. If you would like your request to be considered for future development works, please provide feedback here.
We expect to introduce this work by September 2017, subject to any further changes in design or funding issues. Contractors will notify all residents in the area prior to starting construction work.
