Tarahanga Street, Northcote - No stopping at all times restrictions

Consultation status: closed 21 March 2017

We are proposing to install No stopping at all times restrictions (broken yellow lines) on Tarahanga Street.

Why the changes are needed

When cars are parked along the south section of Tarahanga Street by Slyvan Avenue, particularly on Saturday mornings, drivers are forced to reverse up the road in order to allow oncoming vehicles to enter which creates congestion and accessibility issues.

The proposed changes will create space for cars to pass one another and ease congestion.

Feedback results

The proposal received positive feedback, with some concerns raised by respondents.

After reviewing this feedback and all other supporting evidence, the proposal will proceed without changes to the next stage of detailed planning.

Next steps

We expect to begin this work by July 2017, subject to any further design changes or funding issues.

Contractors will issue 48-hour notice to affected residents prior to construction.
