We have asked for feedback on a proposal to install electronic signs equipped with alternating flashing beacons on Weymouth Road near Weymouth Primary School.

The Active Warning Signs will operate:

Why changes are required

Active Warning Signs are used to alert drivers to the presence of school students. Using these signs we hope to improve road safety for all those travelling to and from school.

Using New Zealand Transport Agency criteria (including road type, number of students at school, vehicle speed and crash history) we have determined which schools would benefit from Active Warning Signs.

The proposal did not receive any feedback. As a result of this, the proposal will proceed without changes to the next stage of detailed planning.

Next stage

We expect to introduce this work by June 2017, subject to any further changes in design or funding issues. Contractors will issue 48-hour notice to all affected residents prior to construction work.
