Consultation status: closed 12 December 2016
Proposed changes on Coronation Road, Mangere Bridge:
- Upgrade the existing side islands to a kerb build-out.
- Install a replacement catch-pit.
- Review and upgrade lighting where necessary.
- Install new road markings.
Why changes are required
The existing facility was found to fall short of required standards for pram crossing grades, and the transition from pram crossing to carriageway surface was poor.
We are proposing to replace the existing side islands with kerb build-outs to ensure that appropriate standards are met, improving the facility for all users but especially the mobility impaired.
We are taking this project as an opportunity to also undertake some minor road marking improvements to improve the intersection of Taylor Road and Coronation Road to improve visibility for pedestrians and motorists.
Thank you everyone for your feedback.
The proposal received positive feedback with some concerns raised by respondents. After reviewing this feedback and all other supporting evidence, the proposal will proceed without changes to the next stage of detailed planning.
We expect to introduce this work by June 2017, subject to any further changes in design or funding issues. Contractors will issue a 48-hour notice to all residents in the area prior to starting construction work.
