Vehicles frequently park outside of the designated on-street parking zones on Stonedon Drive and encroach on our block driveway access for long haul trucks. This proposal aims to address existing access issues at the driveway of 29 Stonedon Drive, East Tamaki.
Feedback
The proposal received mixed feedback with some concerns raised by respondents. After reviewing this feedback and all other supporting evidence, the proposal will proceed without changes to the next stage of detailed planning.
Specific feedback
- Concern that parking on Stonedon Drive is already limited, and that the proposal will further exacerbate the issue. The proposal aims to eliminate illegal parking near the driveway of 29 Stonedon Drive, which has been identified as a recurring issue. Installation of broken yellow lines at this location will more effectively define the area where vehicles can safely park.
- Suggestion that parking along public roads should not be removed in order to benefit private business. Broken yellow lines will only be installed in between the existing designated on-street parking zones. This proposal will effectively define the area where vehicles can safely park.
- Requests to widen the driveway at 29 Stonedon Drive. Auckland Transport does not widen driveways. This would need to be conducted by the property owner with the approval of Auckland Transport. We expect that this proposal will, however, prevent vehicles from blocking driveway access at this location.
Next Steps
We expect to introduce this work between July 2018 and June 2019, subject to further changes in design or funding issues. Contractors will notify all affected residents prior to construction work.
