Victoria Ave and Colombo Rd, Waiuku - Pedestrian Crossing Improvements Victoria Ave and Colombo Rd, Waiuku - Pedestrian Crossing Improvements

Consultation status: closed 15 December 2016

We are proposing a pedestrian crossing at the Victoria Avenue and Colombo Road intersection.

Changes would include:

  • Installation of a pedestrian splitter island with a cross-through, tactile pavers and new road signs (keep-left and give-way).
  • New pram crossings with tactile pavers and footpath extensions.
  • No stopping at all times restrictions around the intersection.
  • New road markings.

Why the changes are required

We are aiming to increase both pedestrian and vehicle safety. Residents in the surrounding areas have expressed concerns regarding safety and the potential for accidents at this intersection.

This proposal will result in a safer crossing environment for pedestrians, while also increasing overall road safety by slowing down vehicles as they enter Victoria Avenue from Colombo Road.

The No stopping at all times restrictions around the intersection are present to improve sight visibility and vehicle accessibility.
