Wallace Rd and Fitzroy St - splitter islands Wallace Rd and Fitzroy St - splitter islands

Consultation status: closed on 30 January 2017. Feedback results available.

We sought your feedback on a proposal to improve safety for pedestrians crossing the road across Wallace Road and Fitzroy Street in Papaptoetoe.

We propose to:

  • Upgrade the current central islands to splitter islands, with pram crossings at both Wallace Road and Fitzroy Street.
  • Re-do the bus stop road markings.
  • Install directional tactile pavers.
  • Add No Stopping at All Times restrictions (broken yellow lines) on both Wallace Road and Fitzroy Street.
  • Add new road markings.

We have noticed the demand for crossing both of these roads and the existing central islands do not offer a safe way for pedestrians to cross these roads.

By improving the layout of the road and footpath across both Wallace Road and Fitzroy Street, we will improve safety for pedestrians and drivers. We will also upgrade any sub-standard street lighting as required during this work.
