Proposal reference: BYL-227 (B)
We recently asked for feedback on a proposal to install Broken Yellow Lines on Ireland Place in Ranui. After reviewing all responses, we have expanded the proposed parking removal at the intersection of Ireland Place and Marinich Drive.
If you have already provided feedback in March, please be assured that this feedback has been received and will be considered alongside any new feedback.
Why the changes are needed
This proposal aims to improve driver access the intersection, especially larger for larger vehicles such as rubbish trucks and emergency vehicles.
The proposal received mixed feedback with some concerns raised by respondents. After reviewing this feedback and all other supporting evidence, the proposal will proceed without changes to the next stage of detailed planning.
- Concerns have been raised over:
- broken yellow lines placed outside 4 Ireland Place because of a high risk of break-ins if cars are located elsewhere,
- and suggestion of relocating the broken yellow lines to outside 2 Ireland Place.
The broken yellow lines have been staggered across Ireland Place in shorter sections of the road. This ensures cars are not parked opposite to each other while maintaining the maximum number of parking spaces available. It is important that broken yellow lines are installed as Ireland Place is classified as a narrow road, when cars are parked on both sides of the road there is restricted access for large vehicles such as rubbish trucks or emergency vehicles.
We expect to introduce this work between July 2018 and June 2019, subject to further changes in design or funding issues. Contractors will issue notices to all affected residents prior to construction work.
