Laburnum Rd & Mersey Pl, New Windsor - No stopping restrictions

Consultation status: closed 17 August 2017

Proposal reference: BYL-154

We are proposing to install broken yellow lines (No stopping at all times restrictions) at the intersection of Laburnum Road and Mersey Place, both on the corner sides of Mersey Place and the adjacent side of Laburnum Road.

We are also looking to introduce centre-line markings, a Give Way triangle symbol and a Give Way controlled sign on the section of Mersey Place approaching Laburnum Road.

There is a safety concern for drivers wanting to turn in and out of Mersey Place, as their visibility is limited by vehicles parking close to the intersection. The proposed parking restrictions will remove parking spaces, improving visibility and accessibility for road users.

The proposed Give Way controls will help clarify road rules at the intersection.

Feedback

The proposal received mixed feedback with some concerns raised by respondents. After reviewing this feedback and all other supporting evidence, the proposal will proceed without changes to the next stage of detailed planning.

Specific feedback

  • Loss of parking. We acknowledge that on-street parking is a valuable and shared community resource. Therefore its removal is only carried out where a significant safety or accessibility issue has been identified.
  • Extend broken yellow lines to outside 3 Laburnum Rd, to assist vehicles exiting the driveway of number 5 Laburnum Rd. We believe this will limit parking options for residents and visitors. We acknowledge that on-street parking is a valuable and shared community resource. Therefore its removal is only carried out where a significant safety or accessibility issue has been identified. If you notice a vehicle is parked within one metre of this driveway and blocking access please call 09 355 3553 with the details of the vehicle.
  • Extend broken yellow lines further along Laburnum Road. On-street parking is a valuable and shared community resource therefore its removal is only carried out where a significant safety or accessibility issue has been identified.
  • Request to install speed bumps. If you would like your request to be considered by AT for future development works, please provide feedback here.

Next steps

We expect to introduce this work in the 2017/18 financial year, subject to any further changes in design or funding issues.
Contractors will issue 48-hour notice to all affected residents prior to construction work.
