Ward Street, New Lynn - No stopping restrictions

Consultation status: closed 26 May 2017

We are proposing to install No stopping at all times restrictions (broken yellow lines) extending from the existing intersection of Ward Street and Clark Street to the existing hockey stick marking. This will result in the loss of one P30 parking space.

Why the changes are needed

The proposed changes are required to provide a longer left turn lane at the intersection, which is frequently blocked by parked vehicles. As this occurs at all times of the day, we are looking to install No stopping at all times restrictions rather than a Clearway.

The changes will result in the loss of one P30 carpark and whilst we acknowledge there is a high parking demand in the area, the operational benefits to the intersection justify the removal of this space.

Feedback results

The proposal received positive feedback. After reviewing this feedback and other supporting evidence, the proposal will proceed without changes to the next stage of detailed planning.

We expect to begin this work by November 2017, subject to further design changes or funding issues.

Contractors will issue 48-hour notice to affected residents before any construction work.
