Preparing the rail network for electrification and carrying out vital track work means buses will be taking over on some train services this weekend.
Bus replacements will be in operation on the Western Line between:
Britomart to Waitakere / Henderson on Saturday 13 to Sunday 14 November
Auckland Transport Public Transport Operations Manager Mark Lambert says: “The works are primarily focused around preparing the network for electrification and ongoing track and signaling work at Britomart, being carried out by KiwiRail.
“Electrification works involve installing new signaling, putting in the traction masts and ensuring there is enough clearance underneath bridges for the overhead wires.
“Maintenance work involves laying new sleepers, building platform extensions, as well as keeping the rail corridor tidy.
“Passengers should look out for RAIL BUS signs at affected stations, and where buses replace trains, normal train fares will apply for the entire journey. Passengers should also allow extra time for their journey,” Mr Lambert says.
