Buses replace Eastern Line trains this weekend
3 March 2011
Buses will replace trains on the Eastern Line this weekend.
The closures are necessary to allow Kiwirail and Auckland Transport to continue upgrading the rail network and prepare it for electrification.
Buses replacing trains 5 and 6 March:
Eastern Line: Britomart to Otahuhu (via Glen Innes and Sylvia Park)
Replacement rail bus services will be provided during the closures and special timetables will be in place for them. For full details go to www.maxx.co.nz Details will also be available at stations.
We understand replacing buses with trains causes some disruption and work hard to minimise the impacts wherever possible.
Given the significant amount of work to be done, closures on Auckland's rail network will be a regular occurrence for the foreseeable future. Works are generally scheduled to minimise disruption to peak-hour commuter services and carried out at weekends, public holidays, and evenings when there are usually fewer people travelling.
Following this weekend, the next rail line closures will be on 26 and 27 March.
