Everything about South Auckland bus services is changing on Sunday 30 October 2016 and, with end of year exams looming, Auckland Transport is encouraging students to plan how to get to class.
“At this time of year, students have a lot on their plates and may not realise that bus services are changing” says Auckland Transport’s Network Development Manager Anthony Cross.
“For thousands of students, these changes take place just before exams. We’re encouraging all students to go online for their new bus timetable so they can plan ahead, to ensure that they’ll arrive at their exam and have one less thing to worry about”, says Mr Cross.

For students studying in the city, buses will no longer run from South Auckland all the way in central Auckland except for four bus routes. Otherwise travel to the city is by taking a local bus to a train station and transferring to a train. To get to Symonds Street and the city’s university campuses, students can take one of the many frequent buses from Britomart or Newmarket.
There are also new bus routes for local AUT and Manukau Institute of Technology (MIT) students. The new 361 from Manurewa to Otara bus route will service both AUT and MIT campuses.
Last week, a fun information event was held at the Otara Bus Interchange to capture MIT students and local high school students. With support from radio station Mai FM, more than 100 people took part in the event.
