The number of Aucklanders using our trains continues to grow. In August, rail patronage was 1,004,630, an increase of 1.7 per cent on August last year.
Rail patronage for the 12 months to August was 10,115,650, an annual growth of around nine per cent.
The number of people using ferry services was 414,535, an increase of 10,968 or 2.7 per cent on August 2012. Ferry services carried 5,551,904 passenger trips for the 12 months to August 2013.
Northern Express bus service patronage for August was 214,172, a decrease of 8,185 on last year. Other bus services saw 4,902,264 passengers carried, a drop of 1.1 per cent.
Overall, public transport patronage for August was 6,535,601, a slight drop on last year but there was one less business day this August. One less business day accounts for approximately a four per cent drop in patronage.
