You need to know
- If you top up in person, the money is loaded straight onto the card and is available to use immediately.
- The maximum you can store on your card is $500.
- Note: pre-loaded HOP cards are available at pre-paid retailers, stock is subject to availability.
AT HOP card vending machines
You can now buy a pre-loaded AT HOP card from a vending machine for $25. This includes $20 of travel credit.

- Auckland Domestic Airport
- Downtown Ferry Terminal
- Devonport Ferry Terminal.
The machines accept Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and EFTPOS. They do not accept cash.
