Familiarise yourself with all aspects of getting an accessible concession which is available on AT HOP or as a cash fare on public transport in Auckland.

Who can get an accessible concession

If you hold a current Total Mobility ID card or Blind Low Vision NZ ID card you are also eligible to receive an accessible concession which is at least 40% off adult fares on AT timetabled buses, trains and ferries (excludes Waiheke and Rakino ferries).

When using public transport accessible card holders must have their current Total Mobility ID card or Total Mobility AT HOP card or Blind Low Vision NZ ID with them and present it on request to prove their eligibility.

Getting an accessible concession on a cash fare

When using public transport accessible card holders must have their current Total Mobility ID card or Blind Low Vision NZ ID with them and present it on request to prove their eligibility for travel to buy a paper ticket.

Total Mobility AT HOP card

From 4 September 2017, the Total Mobility ID card was replaced with a new Total Mobility AT HOP card.

The Total Mobility AT HOP card will be loaded with your accessible concession when you receive it. If you are an existing Total Mobility customer and wish to replace your Total Mobility ID with the new Total Mobility AT HOP card, you can find out how to do so in our Total Mobility newsletter.

If you have a current Total Mobility ID card or Blind Low Vision NZ ID and an AT HOP card but need to renew or load your accessible concession

  • If you hold a current Total Mobility ID card or you are eligible for an accessible concession. Please note that as of 4 September 2017 the Total Mobility ID card has been replaced with the Total Mobility AT HOP card. The Total Mobility AT HOP card will be loaded with your accessible concession when you receive it. This means you can use it as both a Total Mobility card for approved passenger services and for Auckland public transport services.
  • If you hold a current Blind Low Vision NZ ID you are eligible for an accessible concession.

What you need to know

  • If you do not have a Total Mobility AT HOP card, then your AT HOP card needs to be registered before an accessible concession can be applied.
  • You may only hold one AT HOP card with an accessible concession on it.
  • If eligible, you may also hold a Gold AT HOP card with a SuperGold concession on it and an AT HOP card with an accessible concession. Find out more about the multiple concessions.
  • Your AT HOP accessible concession will expire on the same date as your Total Mobility ID card or Blind Low Vision NZ ID.
  • If you have your AT HOP card registered as a linked account, that is not the primary account, you will not be able to submit a concession application online. Instead, visit an AT customer service centre to apply for the concession.

How to renew your accessible concession in person only

Visit an AT customer services centre where you will need to show your current Total Mobility ID card or Blind Low Vision NZ ID and your AT HOP card to load your concession.

Renew online and then in person

  1. Log in to your MyAT account
  2. Select the card you want to apply the "Accessible" concession to
  3. Select "Available products" tab
  4. Select "Apply for a concession"
  5. Choose "Accessible" from the concession type list 
  6. Enter your Total Mobility ID card or Blind Low Vision NZ ID. Blind Low Vision NZ ID expiry - this is usually only a month and year eg: April 2020. Use the last day of the month for the day eg: 30 April 2020 when entering into the form.
  7. Submit your application
