From Wednesday 1 May, fares and concessions are changing for people under 25 years old.

You may still qualify for a discount.ย Find out more about fare changes.

Children under 13 can travel for free, and secondary school students and young people under 25 can enjoy discounted fares.ย 

Children under 5 years old

Children under 5 years old travel free when accompanied by another passenger. There is no need to buy a ticket or tag on and off with a separate AT HOP card.

Free public transport for children 5 to 12 years old

Children aged 5 to 12 years old (inclusive) can travel for free when they tag on and off with their registered AT HOP card. 

Fare concessions for children 13 to 15 years old

Children aged 13 to 15 years old (inclusive) get discounted fares when they tag on and off with their registered AT HOP card. 

Fare concessions for secondary school students 16 to 19 years old

Secondary students 16 to 19 years old (inclusive) get discounted fares when they tag on and off with their registered AT HOP card. 

Fare concessions for youth 16 to 24 years old

Young people aged 16 to 24 years old (inclusive) get discounted fares when they tag on and off with their registered AT HOP card. 

Auckland Secondary School ID cards are going digital

AT and Yoti have introduced a new digital secondary school student ID that students can carry on their phones.
