Cycling & walking
Make the most of summer and consider walking or cycling to view the race action. Download the AT Mobile app to plan and track journeys by bike or on foot.
Bike and e-scooter parking is available next to the containers at the Jellicoe Street carpark and under the Hobson Street flyover (next to the Tepid Baths).
Driving
Congestion is expected around the race village and downtown areas on race days so you are advised to plan ahead, and to consider taking public transport if you can.
Road closures in the city centre
On race days the following roads in Wynyard Quarter will close to vehicle traffic between 11am until 11pm:
-
Jellicoe Street
- Madden Street
- Beaumount Street and Daldy Street from Pakenham Street West to Jellicoe Street.
All road closure times are subject to change depending on crowd numbers and traffic movement each race day.
Parking restrictions will be in place on closed roads so there will be no on-street parking available, vehicle access will be by permit only. Traffic management teams will be enforcing and monitoring road closures throughout the period.
If you are a business in the Eastern Viaduct, Wynyard Quarter or downtown area, we recommend scheduling your service deliveries, couriers, pickups and drops offs before the roads close in your area or during the time they are open again. Any pickups or deliveries that need to be made during the road closure times will need to be made outside the affected area.
Commercial car park buildings
While we encourage people to use public transport wherever possible, we do acknowledge that people may need to drive and park at a commercial parking facility. Access to existing carparks within the city centre, Viaduct Harbour, Wynyard Quarter, Princes Wharf, downtown and Britomart area will be maintained, however there may be detours in place and you should plan for delays.
Other locations to view
