Strike action scheduled for Monday 23 to Friday 27 April involving drivers for NZ Bus has been withdrawn by First Union and Tramways Union.

However, drivers will meet on Tuesday (24 April) to ratify the settlement to the dispute. This meeting means NZ Bus services will be cancelled after morning peak. Services on Tuesday will be disrupted between 9:30am and 2:30pm, some services immediately before or after this could also be affected.

Use the journey planner to plan an alternative trip, under advanced options select the service operator. Ensure Go West, Metrolink and North Star are not selected.

Bus services run by other operators are not affected and train and ferry services will run as usual on Tuesday.

Note: CityLink and InnerLink services will continue to operate during the disruption.

How to use the Journey Planner

The Auckland Transport Journey Planner is designed to provide you with accurate, up to date information to plan your travel around Auckland. The following is a quick and handy guide on how it works.

Planning your journey

For the best result enter the full physical address, including street number, flat or unit number, of your location and destination in the “From” and “To” Fields. For example “45 Queen Street, Auckland Central” or “Britomart Transport Centre”.

Search via:

  • Address
  • Landmark
  • Stop number
  • Street intersection eg: “Queen St and Vulcan Lane” or “Queen St&&Vulcan Lane”

If your entered address does not appear on the Journey Planner, enter the next closest address number instead. For example 47 Queen Street instead of 45 Queen Street.

You can also select your start and end points by clicking on the map. Drag a marker to where you would like to travel to and from.

Select your preferred departure or arrival time using the drop down options and enter the time you want to travel. Times can be entered using AM/PM or 24 hour format, eg: 2pm or 1400

Choose the best journey option which suits your travel needs. Click on the trip to see full details including walking time and distance, to/from your nearest stop, estimated travel time, service and fare information.

*Note that the departure time listed here is not the departure time of your bus, train or ferry service, but the estimated time you would need to begin your journey to catch your service.

Advanced Options

While we do our best to provide you with options that will get you to your destination in the quickest and most direct way possible, the Journey Planner is designed to allow you to tailor your travel plans as you see fit.

Clicking on the “Advanced” button will allow you to select or deselect your preferred Transport Modes, adjust your maximum walking time settings and transfer options.

*Note that the Journey Planner includes travel information for school buses which you will need to select as and when you need it. Results for school buses in the Journey Planner will display the word "SCHOOL" with the route number.
