There are times when trains will not operate on the Auckland rail network due to maintenance, services will be replaced by a rail bus.


Rail replacement bus services are shown in the Journey Planner and AT Mobile app as bus services. 


Line closures on Queen's Birthday weekend - Saturday 1 June to Monday 3 June 2019

Southern line

  • Buses will replace trains between Penrose and Pukekohe.
  • Trains will operate between Britomart and Penrose.

Eastern line

  • Buses will replace trains between Panmure and Manukau.
  • Trains will operate between Britomart and Sylvia Park.

Onehunga line

  • Trains will operate as normal.

Western line

  • Trains will operate as normal.

Please plan ahead using the Journey Planner.

Reason for line closure: Southern and Eastern Lines will be closed for sleeper replacement between Papakura and Pukekohe, Otahuhu 3rd main project, pedestrian gates at Te Mahia, Puhinui upgrade pre-construction work and Takanini motorway widening.

Replacement buses

Rail replacement bus services are shown in the Journey Planner and AT Mobile app as bus services. They will have the route codes RBS, RBW, RBO, RBE for Rail Bus Southern, Rail Bus Western, Rail Bus Onehunga and Rail Bus Eastern. All valid tickets and passes currently accepted on trains will be accepted on rail bus replacements.
