Buses replace some trains

There are times when trains will not operate on the Auckland rail network due to maintenance, services will be replaced by a rail bus.


Line closures during Labour weekend - Saturday 21 to Monday 23 October 2017

Southern & Eastern Line

  • On the Southern Line, buses will replace trains between Manukau and Pukekohe, trains will operate between Britomart and Manukau.
  • On the Eastern Line, buses will replace trains between Britomart and Otahuhu, trains will operate between Otahuhu and Manukau.

Reason for line closure: The Eastern Line is blocked between Britomart and Westfield for formation work and sleeper replacement. The Southern Line is blocked between Wiri and Pukekohe for NZTA Takanini Motorway widening and Pukekohe upgrade.

Western & Onehunga Line

  • There will be no line closures on the Western or Onehunga Line.
  • Trains will operate between Swanson and Britomart on the Western Line, and between Onehunga and Britomart on the Onehunga Line.

Rail Buses

Buses will be marked RAIL BUS. All valid tickets and passes currently accepted on trains will be accepted on rail bus replacements.
