Catalina Bay bus route changes Catalina Bay bus route changes

Catalina Bay bus redirection

A temporary bus redirection may have some implications for public transport customers when they are transferring between the Hobsonville Point ferry terminal and local bus services.

Auckland Transport is supporting Kāinga Ora with the construction of their development at Catalina Bay. For Kāinga Ora's contractor to carry out the work, buses are being temporarily redirected down Launch Road. The redirection will begin Sunday 8 May and is expected to be in place for 6 months.

The new bus stops are located on the sea wall at Catalina Bay and on the south side of Launch Road (see map below). Local bus services will terminate at the bus stop on the sea wall and begin their journeys at the bus stop on Launch Road.

AT and Kāinga Ora are adding a range of mitigations to assist public transport users when transferring between the bus and ferry. These include:

  • Ensuring the temporary bus stops are suitable for all users, including people with accessibility requirements.
  • Installing pedestrian wayfinding signage from the bus stop, towards the walkway, and along the esplanade towards the ferry terminal.
  • Investigating the installation of a covered bus shelter. The bus shelter will depend on the availability of space.
  • Adding some temporary lights along the walkway, where required.
