Temporary lift maintenance underway

When?

Lift maintenance will be carried out in 3 stages:

Stage Dates
Stage 1 Fri 6 May until Thu 2 June 2022
Stage 2 Thu 9 June until Sat 18 June 2022
Stage 3 Tue 5 July until Thu 14 July 2022

During each of the above stages the lifts to the overhead footbridge connecting platforms 1 and 2 will be out of service between the hours of 7am and 5pm Monday to Friday only.

All passengers are encouraged to catch trains from Platform 1 during the maintenance stages however, access via the stairs will remain open to customers.

Both lifts will be operational and can be used by customers between the hours of 5pm and 7am Monday to Friday, Weekends and Public Holidays.

What’s happening?

We’re doing routine maintenance on the lift at Swanson station. The lift will be out of service during this period and will affect access from Platform 2.

All passengers are encouraged to catch trains from Platform 1 during the maintenance period.

Check ahead on the AT mobile app or Journey Planner for Train Platform numbers when planning your train trip.

Existing handrails on platform 2 will be removed temporarily and gravel placed between the existing paved area and grass bank to provide temporary pedestrian access to the platform, lift and stairs.

During construction, areas will be coned to ensure safe public access and signs will indicate alternate access directions.

Accessibility information

  • Passengers with accessibility requirements using a train on Platform 1 will be unaffected.

  • For those using a Train on Platform 2, we advise customers with accessibility needs to use Ranui Station for the duration of the construction. Ranui Station has Park n Ride facilities as well as accessibility parking and is a short distance from Swanson Train station.

  • Other construction will be taking place on platforms from Wednesday 27 April 2022, however, will not impact train service customers.

  • Existing handrails on the Southern platform will be removed temporarily and gravel placed between the existing paved area and grass bank to provide temporary pedestrian access to the platform, lift and stairs.
