2018 Auckland Bike Challenge
The Auckland Bike Challenge is back for another year
Auckland Transport is holding its annual Auckland Bike Challenge in February 2018 as part of the national Aotearoa Bike Challenge.
This free, month-long event runs from 1-28 February and aims at getting more people cycling in Auckland.
By registering for the Auckland Bike Challenge, you’ll be competing amongst participating workplaces, offices and peers throughout New Zealand.
Hop on your bike during the month of February to get involved and get in shape for summer! There are lots of prizes to be won including bike gear, restaurant vouchers and movie tickets and more.
Join
To join this year’s challenge, simply register online and cycle for at least 10 minutes anywhere, anytime during the month of February. Everyone can take part - it doesn’t matter if you haven’t ridden in years! This includes current cyclists as well as those new to cycling who are interested in giving it a go.
Ride
The challenge focusses on participation, not distance, to ensure a fair competition that encourages new and occasional riders, along with regular riders. Just log your ride through the simple online platform. Each ride recorded increases your organisation’s score and gives staff a chance to win fantastic prizes.
Win
Encourage healthy competition at your workplace. Spot prizes during the month and category awards for winning businesses, workplaces, offices and peers throughout New Zealand.
The challenge also helps to promote company health & wellbeing programmes and sustainability initiatives by growing the cycling community, promoting cycle safety, and helping to build the case for better cycling facilities. Each time a car trip is converted to a bike trip, it takes one more car off the road, reducing congestion and CO2 emissions!
