Join one of our free guided walks to discover where Tāmaki Makaurau / Auckland's walking network can take you.

Auckland Transport is offering an exciting series of guided walks to help you explore amazing places around Auckland. This upcoming series of guided walks between April and June 2023 has a focus on the communities of New Lynn, Māngere Central and Manurewa. We hope these events will inspire people in these communities to consider walking to work, school or play, to make Auckland a healthier happier city.

New Lynn guided walks
Enjoy FREE guided walks in New Lynn throughout April. Hosted by professional Auckland guides who will introduce safe, easy walking routes in the area.
Throughout the walk, you’ll discover hidden gems in this culturally diverse and creative neighbourhood. Rich in history and home to interesting venues and community groups, this guided walk will showcase lots of great reasons to get walking in New Lynn!
Grab your friends and family and make a day of it in New Lynn this April!
Suitable for all ages. Must have basic level of fitness and be able to walk the route unassisted without seated breaks.
This FREE 2-hour guided walk will start and finish at the New Lynn Transit Hub. Pre-registration is required.

Discover a different side of Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland with these FREE guided walks in Māngere Central. Māngere has a great network of shared paths designed to make walking easy, safe and enjoyable for everyone.
During the walk, your professional guide will share tips and tricks to stay safe on shared paths and introduce safe crossings and pathways to enjoy in Māngere Central. You’ll also enjoy visits to local community venues such as the Māngere Arts Centre.
Suitable for all ages. Must have basic level of fitness and be able to walk the route unassisted without seated breaks.
This FREE 2-hour guided walk will start and finish at Māngere Arts Centre. Pre-registration is required.

Manurewa is a tight-knit community with good public amenities, including public parks, local library and schools, all within easy walking distance of the town centre.
During this professionally guided walk, your guide will introduce safe walking routes through the community and gentle nature paths to enjoy with loved ones.
Please be aware that a gentle hill climb is included in this walk. It will not be suitable for anyone with mobility issues or low levels of fitness.
This FREE 2-hour guided walk will start and finish at Manurewa Station. Pre-registration is required.
The walks will proceed in all but extreme weather, so please bring a weatherproof coat and wear comfortable walking shoes on your chosen date.

What you need to know
- All guided walks are free and open to Auckland residents over the age of 18.
- All guided walks take about 2 hours.
- Registration is required for all guided walks.
On the day make sure to:
- Read all confirmation emails for details about your walk.
- Arrive 15 minutes before the start time.
- Wear comfortable clothing and walking shoes.
- Bring sunscreen, appropriate weather gear, a water bottle and snacks.
