Walk2Work Day 2022

This year, Walk2Work Day is on Wednesday 9 March 2022. Throughout the week, we're encouraging you to add walking to your daily routine wherever you are around Tāmaki Makaurau, whether you're commuting into the workplace or working from home.

We've also teamed up with Papaya Stories for an exciting Silent Disco Citywalk from Newmarket to Britomart. Bookings are essential, so register today to save your place.

Why walk?

Walking is a great mode of transport, offers numerous health benefits, and helps relax our bodies and minds. Walk2Work Day celebrates and embraces these benefits by encouraging communities to walk as much as possible.

If your workplace is too far to walk to, try walking to public transport instead. If you're already using public transport, try getting off a couple stops earlier to rack up that step count!

Walk while you work from home

The great thing about Walk2Work Day this year is that it isn't just about your daily commute. It's also about exploring your neighbourhood and staying active while you work from home.

In fact, there are loads of ways to incorporate walking into your routine when you're working from home, like taking a trip to the shops, running some errands, or just getting out for some exercise.

When you’re out exploring Tāmaki Makaurau on foot, head out to collect as many Whale Tales as you can, or join one of our guided walks to learn more about our beautiful city.

Celebrate Walk2Work Day with a Silent Disco Citywalk

Celebrate Walk2Work Day by joining us for a free, immersive Silent Disco Citywalk from Newmarket to Britomart. Brought to you by Papaya Stories, the Silent Disco Citywalk is an award-winning walking tour that connects people through an interactive entertainment programme.

The event involves a short walk to Newmarket Station, a musical journey on the train to Britomart, and a variety of interactive surprises along the way.
