Changes to parking and drop-off points
The upgrade work at the Kennedy Point ferry terminal means there are changes to parking and drop-off points during the construction project.
A drop-off area for passengers with mobility needs is being maintained at the wharf during the works. The mobility drop-off area is located adjacent to the public boat ramp and is sign-posted for mobility use only. Auckland Transport has arranged for dedicated traffic management personal to be on site during ferry operations to make sure the area is clear and available for customers and to coordinate access with other vehicle manoeuvring requirements.
During the construction period, general passenger pick-up and drop-off activities have been relocated to the upper car park on Donald Bruce Rd. The lower wharf carpark is currently within the perimeter of the work site where heavy construction activities are taking place and materials being stored. Signage has gone up to advise customers of the temporary parking arrangements and to warn of pedestrians in the area.
AT is also putting in temporary lighting around the upper car park and on the footpath down to the ferry. Permanent street lighting improvements are part of Stage 3 of the wharf renewal works.
