Summary of responses
AT sought feedback on the proposal to withdraw some of the long distance school bus services from South Auckland to Remuera and Epsom schools and West Auckland to Remuera and Epsom schools between 23 August to 30 September 2016.
Thank you to all those who submitted feedback, in total, we received 124 responses.
What you told us
Feedback received showed that parents overall did not support the removal of services and were particularly concerned about safety and making connections between services, especially for primary school aged students. Other key themes were concerns about student bags and equipment, choices made to use a school bus over an urban bus and trip duration when transfers and connections are concerned.
Decisions
The final decisions have been made based on the knowledge that there are other suitable public transport options now in place.
The Southern New Network (which is the first area to change) was implemented at the end of October and feeds passengers to train services to travel to the city centre, rather than duplicating trains with buses all the way to the city centre. It also has three new ‘frequent’ routes which connect key locations and operate at least every 15 minutes between 7am and 7pm, 7 days a week (and at lower frequencies outside these core hours).
Other factors considered were the age of the students and the fact that many students are already catching public buses and trains.

Implementation
Schools will be notified of AT's decision on each route and a response sent to everyone who provided feedback.
No changes will be made to school services in the 2016 school year.
The routes to be withdrawn will be removed from service at the end of the 2016 school year.
