A partnership between the Maungakiekie-Tamaki local board and Auckland Transport has resulted in works to significantly improve the bus interchange in Onehunga.
Project purpose
The improvements will see the introduction of electronic timetables, wider footpaths on the library side and bigger bus shelters.
The shelters feature prominent artworks depicting aspects of Onehunga’s history, designed especially for the project by local artist Amanda Easterbrook.
From Sunday 9 June 2013, bus services will run direct from the Onehunga interchange to the airport.
“Both these developments support Onehunga’s role as an important centre in the Auckland region,” says board chair Simon Randall.
