August 2014 – Public open day with station designers.
November 2014 – Enabling works began. Titi Street Bridge closed.
November 2015 – Main construction works began (building the concourse area and landscaping)
Mid-2016 – Completion of the bus station and concourse.
29 October 2016 - Station opened by the Minister of Transport and Auckland Mayor.
AT is moving to a simpler and more-integrated public transport network as part of the new public transport network. The new network of buses and trains will change the way people travel, including the need for some passengers to transfer at key stations.
Ōtāhuhu Station is a key connection point for the bus and rail networks.
The new bus facility has been built on land next to the existing Ōtāhuhu train station. Vehicles can access the station via a new signalised western approach to the Walmsley Road / Saleyards Road / Station Road intersection.

The station design reflects the history of the area and the site's importance to local mana whenua as a historic portage site for waka.
