Caton Road has limited access under traffic management.
The following restrictions apply:
Vector will be working on locating the power line underground and removing the power pole from the slip site from 9 - 27 November. AT will start road repair works once Vector has completed this. We expect works to take 8 to 10 weeks. Works will pause over Christmas from 22 December 2023 to 8 January 2024. |

We have begun works on Karekare Road, between Piha Road, and the bridge at the Regional Park. Works started on 16 October 2023. We expect works will take up to February 2024 to complete, weather dependant. The road will be closed during this period of work. While works are underway, we will need to close this road. When the road closure is in place all traffic will need to go will need to go via Lone Kauri Road.

There are 10 slip sites on Mountain Road. We started work 30 October 2023. The sites will be repaired one at a time, we anticipate the works could take up to 12 Months to complete. On 23 November, we have paused works, we’ve encountered unexpected ground conditions, and we are reviewing the plan accordingly. We will advise residents of the pause, and when we resume works.

Works resume on the second slip at 40 Otitori Bay Road on 20 November 2023. A full road closure will be in place 24 hrs a day, seven days a week. Works will take place between 7am and 7pm. Pedestrian access will be available up until 8.40am in the morning and after 3.30pm.
The works will take up to 9 weeks to complete.

From Tuesday 28 November, Downer on behalf of Auckland Transport (AT) will be constructing a timber pole retaining wall outside number 27 Rayner Road. This wall will tie into the existing stone retaining wall that is currently in place. The work will involve soil excavation and road reinstatement where slip damage has occurred. We expect the works to take up to three weeks, weather dependent. Hours of work will be 7am to 7pm, Monday to Friday.

This relates to the footpath only that goes under the bridge for people on foot Extra crossing signs and Hit sticks have been installed on the approach to Bethells Road from Waitakere Road (Township end) for visibility and to improve safety. We're working with Waitākere Primary School on alternative options for crossing safely. The Speed limit has been lowered from 1 April 2023 to 60km/hr near the intersection (between 190m north of Bethells Road and 220m south of Township Road) and 40km on approach from Bethells Road end. |

Glenvar Road will open to the public on Saturday 14 October. Part of the road between East Coast Road and Fitzwilliam Drive was damaged during the Auckland Anniversary Weekend. It was closed after geotechnical experts advised further slips could put property and lives at risk. Thank you to all who live, work and visit this area for your patience. It was a complex repair but the road is now safer and more resilient to future weather events. The top end is wider than before, has 300m of kerb and channel, improved drainage, fences, a new safety barrier and a new footpath on the south side.
Bus routes will return to using this section of Glenvar Road from Sunday 15 October 2023. The AT Journey Planner and AT Mobile will reflect this change from Sunday 12 November 2023. |

North Auckland - Rural road updates
Significant progress has been made across the Auckland region over the last month on permanent repairs to storm damaged roads. In the North Rural area there are 363 slips, 78 of which are defined as ‘major’. By the end of October, AT contractors expect to have repaired 200 minor and 13 major slips.

Work started on the first week of November and is expected to be completed prior to Christmas, pending any weather delays.
The work will be undertaken during the daytime, 7 am to 7 pm, Monday to Saturday to take advantage of the longer daylight hours so that we can finish as soon as possible. This programme should mean works should be completed before Christmas.
With the type of equipment on the road, we will have full road closure during construction. The traffic management would allow residents to access their property and any delivery would be accommodated by contacting the Site Traffic Management Supervisor (STMS). Large vehicles will be restricted due to available lane width during construction.
We will endeavour to minimise the delay as much as possible, but some delays can be expected, so we encourage residents to plan ahead. |
