Accepted ID documents for concession applications
Photo ID is required to apply for some discounted fares on your AT HOP card. Check the list before you apply to understand what we will and won't accept.
Accepted photo ID
- Passport
- Driver's license
- AT Total Mobility ID card
- Fullers Ferry Monthly Pass ID card with photo
- Firearms license
We will accept photo IDs that have expired within the last 3 years.
Alternatives to photo ID
If you do not have photo ID, we will accept any two of the following original documents (photocopies not accepted):
- Birth certificate
- Marriage certificate
- Deed poll certificate
- Citizenship certificate (for residents born overseas)
- National Identity Card (issued by some overseas countries, for residents born overseas)
Do not send original documents in the post – only use this option if you are applying in person at a customer service centre.
Alternative accepted documents
We will also accept the following other ID documents, as long as they are on the relevant organisation’s letterhead and include your name and address:
- WINZ document
- IRD document
- Court-issued document
- Council rates bill
- Water rates bill
- Bank statement
- Insurance company letter/Certificate of insurance
- Power company bill
- Telephone company bill (landline/broadband only)
ID documents not accepted
- Emails
- Letters not on company letterheads
- Mobile phone bills.
