How to pay
You can pay for AT ferries using an AT HOP card or contactless payment method.* When you pay with your HOP or contactless card, ‘tag on’ when you board, and ‘tag off’ when you exit.
Contactless payment methods accepted include:
- contactless debit and credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, UnionPay)
- Apple Pay, Google Pay or Samsung Pay in the digital wallet of your smart device.
When tagging on and off, remove your HOP or contactless card from your wallet or phone case so that the correct card is scanned. Always use the same card or smart device to tag on and off so that you’re charged the correct fare.
*Excludes Fullers Waiheke commercial ferries. Island Direct Waiheke ferry services are included.
If you’re using your HOP card to pay for the ferry, make sure you have enough funds on your HOP card to cover your ferry journey.
If you do not have a HOP card or contactless payment method, you must buy a ferry ticket before you board. Tickets are available from a ticket machine or customer service centre.
For more details on ferry travel, see ferry ticket information. For ferry schedules, visit ferry timetables.
Prices for ferry travel
On all services, ‘full fare’ is the price you would pay if you buy your ferry tickets before boarding rather than tagging on and off with a HOP card or contactless method.
Children under 5 years old travel for free when accompanied by a paying passenger. They do not need their own HOP card.
