The number of cycle movements in Auckland is collected at sites across the region using permanent, automated cycle-monitoring equipment.

As of July 2018, AT reports on 26 cycle counters, located throughout the city.

Daily data from all counters are available to download.

      • SH20 shared path (near Dominion Road)

      • Tamaki Drive (both sides of the road)
      • Te Wero Bridge (Wynyard Quarter)
      • Twin Streams shared path
      • Upper Harbour Drive
      • Upper Queen Street
      • Victoria St West

This equipment counts the number of cycle movements all day, every day and the data collected is used for a variety of reasons including:

      • Identifying trends in cycling.
      • Guiding policy and the investment in cycling.
      • Reporting to the public on the use of the cycle network.
