DrivingOverview
We’re planning to make changes to Lonsdale Street to improve access for all road users.
We received a request to install broken yellow lines ('No stopping at all times') on Lonsdale Street, where trees in the middle of the road reduce the road width.
When vehicles park on both sides of the trees, the road can become blocked, making it difficult for drivers to pass safely.
After a site assessment, we now plan to install broken yellow lines along sections of the road.
The changes we’re making by October 2026:
- install broken yellow lines ('No stopping at all times) outside 6 and 10 Lonsdale Street
- improving access and re-allocating road space by removing two on‑street parking spaces.
These changes will prevent parking in narrow sections of the road where trees are located in the middle, ensuring vehicles can move through more easily.
If you would like to contact us about the project, please email atengagement@at.govt.nz and include BYL-800 in the subject line by 7 July 2026.
