Using ferries to get around Auckland

Ferries are a fast and scenic way to explore Auckland's waterfront neighbourhoods. Pay with an AT HOP card or contactless methods on most services or buy a paper ticket before you board. You can also buy monthly ferry passes. Find out more about how to pay for ferries

Devonport is a 12-minute scenic ferry ride from Downtown Ferry Terminal. Visit for:

  • the charming Victorian village
  • shops, fashion and gifts
  • the cafes and restaurants
  • golden beaches, stunning views and walks
  • art galleries and the walking art trail.

Hobsonville Point is a 35-minute scenic ferry ride from Downtown Ferry Terminal. Visit for:

  • craft breweries, cafes and restaurants
  • Catalina Bay Farmers Market on Saturday and Sundays
  • coastal walkway and cycle path
  • stunning parks and public spaces.

Half Moon Bay is a 35-minute scenic ferry ride from Downtown Ferry Terminal. Visit for:

  • waterfront restaurants, cafes and bars
  • art galleries and local art and crafts
  • historic downtown shopping district
  • hiking and bike trails
  • bus connections to east Auckland.

Pine Harbour is a 35-minute scenic ferry ride from Downtown Ferry Terminal. Visit for:

  • Pine Harbour Marina’s bars, markets and restaurants
  • the shoreline walk and cycle path to Maraetai
  • swimming, fish and chips and bars at Maraetai Beach
  • stunning scenery and open spaces
  • regular weekend ferries and late sailing on Saturday nights
  • easy connections to Beachlands and Maraetai on the 738 and 739 buses.
